PAIN MANAGEMENT……..SUGGESTIONS of the
Duquesne University Chronic Pain Committee

To find a pain medicine doctor or specialist, first ask your primary care physician for a referral.  If this is not successful then may we suggest the following;

  • Call the local hospital or medical center and inquire about an affiliated pain treatment center or clinic.
  • Contact the local hospital’s Department of Anesthesiology.  They may have physicians within the department that deal particularly with pain management or will know whom to put you in contact with. 
  • Contact the nearest School of Medicine and ask if they have pain management resources.
  • If you have access to the internet contact the American Society of Anesthesiologists they may be able to help with information in your local area.

*Several of the local Pain Centers will require physician referral.
