Pharmaceutical Administration
within the Division of Clinical, Social and Administrative
Sciences offers entry-level Pharm.D. students
the opportunity to take a highly specialized sequence
of courses in the administrative sciences to fulfill
their elective requirements. Students receive
certification in pharmacy management upon completing
required courses and an experiential education
rotation in the pharmacy management area. All
courses are taught at the graduate level and involve
students in debates, case study analysis and presentation,
review and analysis of peer-reviewed literature,
and real-world projects. Students may apply credits
from the specialty concentration toward the M.S.
in Pharmacy Administration degree.

The geriatric concentration
is designed to provide students with additional
education and training in the provision of pharmaceutical
care to geriatric clients and encourage students
to pursue careers in long-term care pharmacy, residencies
in geriatrics and other areas within geriatric practice.
Requirements of the concentration include an eight-credit
course cluster consisting of the three elective
offerings:
- PHPRC 465 - Selected Topics in Geriatrics
- 3 credits>
- PHPRC 466 - Pharmacy in Long Term Care -
3 credits
- PHPRC 467 - Advanced Case Studies in Geriatrics
- 2 credits
In addition one
of five experiential education rotations must
be done in the geriatric area. The concentration
culminates with a comprehensive exam similar in
structure and content to the Geriatric Certification
Exam a certificate is presented to students who
successfully complete the program. Other course
faculty include Robert Maher, Pharm.D., BCPS,
and Patricia Keys, Pharm.D., GCP.
