Dr. J. Douglas Bricker
has been the Associate Dean of the School of Pharmacy
since 1993. Prior to that appointment, he served
as the Chair of the Department of Pharmacology-Toxicology
and has been a member of the Department of Pharmacology-Toxicology
since 1985. He received a B.A. in Biology from
the Franciscan University of Steubenville and
a Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology from Duquesne
University.
Dr. Bricker is a Diplomat
of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) and
a member of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology.
He is the co-author of the textbook, Principles
of Clinical Toxicology, in its third edition.
Dr. Bricker has been involved
in developing and implementing courses in Pathophysiology,
Pharmacology, and Toxicology at the undergraduate
and graduate level. He has been recognized by
students and peers as an excellent teacher, winning
ten "Teacher of the Year" awards and "Teaching
Excellence" awards since 1982.
Dr. Bricker serves as the National President of
the Rho Chi Society, the honor society of pharmacy.
He has served as the faculty advisor for the Alpha
Beta chapter of Rho Chi and is currently the faculty
advisor for Phi Lambda Sigma, the Pharmacy Leadership
Society.
Dr. Bricker's research
interests include the effects of drugs, chemicals,
and disease states on the regulation of calcium
uptake mechanisms and the role of calcium in mechanisms
of toxicity. His research has been funded by extramural
funding and has resulted in numerous scientific
presentations and publications.
