The Academic Partners Program at Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy

The Academic Partners Program at The Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy is a group of clinical pharmacists that operate individual practice sites throughout the Pittsburgh, PA area but work collectively as healthcare providers under a common vision to improve the health of the University and surrounding Pittsburgh Community areas. The Program consists of six acute care, five ambulatory, and two community practice sites. Each site offers distinct benefits and aspects of care, but remains uniform in the delivery of services. By working collectively as a group, the Academic Partners are able to provide a continuous source of care to all patients. The pharmacists at each practice site serve the needs of all, from uninsured or underinsured, to fully insured patients. The services provided range from acute care, in-hospital clinical recommendations to outpatient ambulatory testing of cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, bone density, and body composition. Along this continuum, each of the pharmacists manages chronic disease states and medical conditions. This unique program allows for better communication and collaboration among physicians and other healthcare providers in an effort to enhance health outcomes and decrease healthcare costs. Overall, the Academic Partners strive to facilitate pharmacy resources, integrate drug-related outcomes, and further advance disease state prevention and management of chronic illnesses.
